I have always approached elected office as a chance to solve problems, not pass them off to former or future leaders. We need to deal with our problems today and build a better future through hard work and cooperation. My past administrations have left behind a solid record that will serve as a foundation to my time as County Executive.
 

An innovative thinker and tireless worker who was willing to make the difficult decisions required by effective leadership, Griffo has been recognized and highly respected by his peers as well as by leaders on other levels of government:

 
Mayor Griffo was appointed by Gov. George Pataki to serve on a blue ribbon panel on municipal lobbying;
 

Gov. Pataki also tabbed Griffo to serve on the state’s Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor Commission;

 
He was nominated and elected President of the New York Conference of Mayors serving as the organization’s leader from 2000 to 2001;
 

Griffo was a member of the Advisory Board of the United States Conference of Mayors. The Advisory Board was the leadership wing of this national association which includes many of the nation’s largest cities, including Houston, Boston, Detroit and Denver. Griffo represents one of the smallest cities ever elected to serve on the advisory board;

 

He was co-chair of the Amtrak Mayor’s Council;

 
He was appointed by New York State Comptroller H. Carl McCall to serve on the New York State Comptroller’s Advisory Commission;
 

Most recently, Griffo has been appointed a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s Homeland Security Task Force; and

 
He was the Northeast Chairman for the Republican Mayors and Local Officials Organizations
